Positive Behaviour Support for NDIS participants

PBS is the NDIS-funded support that builds skills, reduces restrictive practices, and improves quality of life. We deliver it across South Australia by a neurodiverse team who understand from the inside, with Functional Behaviour Assessments, interim and comprehensive Behaviour Support Plans, and capacity building for the people around the participant.

Key points

  • Funded under Capacity Building, in the Improved Relationships category.
  • Delivered in-home, in-community, or via telehealth across metro and regional SA.
  • We always complete an interim plan within the first month, while the full assessment is finished.
  • Every plan reduces restrictive practices, it never adds them.

What is Positive Behaviour Support

Positive Behaviour Support is a person-centred, evidence-based approach to understanding behaviours of concern and changing them by changing the environment, teaching new skills, and improving quality of life. It is the standard model for behaviour support in the NDIS, and it is delivered by practitioners registered with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission.

Our neurodiverse team difference

Our team is neurodiverse, with practitioners who bring lived experience of neurodivergence to the work. That changes the assessments we write. We understand sensory overwhelm, masking, shutdown, and demand-heavy days from the inside, so the plans we write are realistic about what a participant can sustain rather than what looks tidy on paper.

Participants and families are met without judgment from the first conversation, and the strategies we set are ones they can actually use.

NDIS funding for Positive Behaviour Support

PBS is funded under Capacity Building, in the Improved Relationships category. The Functional Behaviour Assessment, the Behaviour Support Plan, and the training for the people around the participant are all funded from the same budget. Self-managed, plan-managed, and NDIA-managed participants are all welcome.
